Garage48 :Johannesburg

I am taking part the “Johannesburg” Garage48 event which started today. I am using Common Lisp at this event and even though the project I chose to work on is not really ground breaking stuff I am hoping to garner some interest for lisp.

It is going to be tough going because I only learnt about the event this morning and did not have as much time as I would have wanted to prepare, but I think we will do ok.

If you want to follow the event go to www.garage48.org/johannesburg and if you want to follow the progress on our little project go to www.socialvillage.co.za.

May the source be with us!

This is a great platform. The final prototype social development program will be based on adding benefits to NGO’s, local suppliers, and targeted underprivileged communities

Social vouchers will be a means for individuals and NGO’s to transfer cash and credit through to needy dependent communities. Vouchers will be transferrable to specific food parcels, clothing and other immediate needs.

Social Vouchers are a channel for supporting NGO’s, local suppliers and dependent communities. The concept of the social vouchers is based on creating transparency, social interaction and affection towards the gift of giving. Social vouchers are a credit system whereby individuals and support groups can donate contributions transferred in cash or credit to NGO’s and donors in helping specific communities.

    We identified the following bjectives:
    – Preventing the problem of misuse of funds
    – Bringing the gift of giving closer to the donor
    – Being transparent and flexible with donations
